a scientific analysis of Singularikitty
This is a scientific analysis of an original character by @artifyber named singularity(Skitty). So today I will be doing a scientific analysis on Skitty, finding its mass, spin, electrical charge etc. Yeah… im such a big nerd
The 3 properties
A bit of irony
Black holes only have 3 properties : mass, spin and electric charge. This is called no hair theorem. Which is ironic because skitty is literally a cat with hundred of hair
Mass
Now there is no canon value for the mass of Skitty, but we can do some approximation.
We can measure the height of Skitty from the image arti release on x, but Skitty is not a sphere. So I will calculate the sphere radius by assuming that skitty is a circle, and taking the circle radius as the sphere radius. And the circle area is skitty height and times skitty width
Doing the math
There are some pictures where Skitty's full height is not shown. To get around this, I will calculate Skitty leg/body ratio. Calculating the ratio of body to leg gives us the value of 1.1465
And calculating the ratio of width and body gives us 3.114
With this information…
This picture gives Skitty mass of around 7000 times the mass of the sun
This picture gives Skitty mass of around 1600 times the mass of the sun.
I'm going to average to 4300 solar mass, which is the lower bound for skitty mass
This picture gives skitty mass of around 6 million to 12 million times the mass of the sun(which i'm going to average to 9 million suns, which is the higher mass for skitty mass)
Oh wait…
If skitty is 5 feet tall, skitty would weigh around 0.1% the mass of the sun. I would call this the very lower bound of mass
Putting skitty in perspective
On the very lower bound of mass, skitty wouldn't be in any classification
Skitty would be around 100 times the mass of the earth
On the lower bound of mass, skitty would be intermediate mass black hole
Skitty would be around 5 times as massive as this star cluster, which of itself span 20 light years. 20 light year is about 50.000 times the distance of neptune to our sun
On the higher bound of mass, skitty would be a supermassive black hole
Skitty mass would be around the same as Sagittarius a*, the black hole in the center of our galaxy
Spin
Skitty dont spin.
Electric charge
Most black mostly hole don't have electric charge
Other properties of skitty
The origin of skitty
On the lower bound of mass, there is no theory on how such light black holes form
On the higher bound of mass, there are 2 theories.
- Skitty is formed by gas cloud directly collapsing on itself
- From a massive star so huge that it's core became a black hole (this is called quasi star)
Assuming that skitty is a intermediate mass black hole, skitty probably formed in 3 ways
from a dying O mass star that merged with another black hole or accreting mass from it environment
From massive star merging
From black hole created in the beginning of time
The end of skitty
Space is filled with production of virtual particles. 2 virtual particles will materialize and annihilate each other soon.
But near a black hole, 1 of the virtual particles will fall into the black hole, making the black hole lighter. So, black hole are not forever
If skitty mass was 0.1% mass of the sun, skitty would live for around 1.64*10^48 years or around…
If skitty mass was 4300 times of the sun, skitty would live for around 1.7 * 10^78 years or around…
70.144.980.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 years
If skitty mass was around 9 million solar mass, skitty would live for around 1.56*10^88 years or around
156.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 years
This is an absolutely massive number, there is no way to put this number in human perspective.
What would Skitty see at the end of its life?
Skitty would die in a cold and dark universe. Scientists speculate that protons, one of the building blocks of matter, will someday die. Making black hole the only object in the universe
And the more light the black hole, the more it radiates. So at the end of its life. Skitty would explode into a fireworks of lights and energy.
A bit of optimism
Black holes ain't as black as they are painted. They are not the eternal prisons they were once thought. Things can get out of a black hole, both to the outside, and possibly to another universe. So if you feel you are in a black hole, don't give up. There's a way out.
