Looking at that image, we can see that Aiden has some type of a mental disorder. But is there a mental disorder that makes you emotionless?
Yes! Is called Alexithymia
Alexithymia is defined as the inability to recognize emotion and difficulty expressing feelings. Alexithymic people have unable recognizing change of tones and strong emotion connotation [1][2]
But what is the cause of alexithymia?
1-Autism
Autism may cause alexithymia, around 50% people that have autism have alexithymia
People who have autism have some similarity to people who have alexithymia.
Such as : disorder of cognitive functioning, impaired self awareness and mentalization and problems with behavior control.
Alexithymia is common in autistic people. Seemingly caused by brain chemistry and genetics
As discussed before, alexithymia have difficulty recognizing emotions, this is also present in autistic people
[2]
2-Trauma
Research shows that mothers with interpersonal violence related post-traumatic stress disorder or IPV-PTSD have higher difficulty recognizing or describing their own feelings.[3]
Desentization
What is desentization?
Desentization is basically a process that diminishes response to a stimulus by repeated exposure.
In simple words, because you experience it many times, you just get used to it.
Maybe Aiden sometimes feels that killing is immoral. But after years of killing, she just think that it's just a normal thing
…killer.
Why does someone kills,
It is become a lack of empathy
Empathy is the ability to understand emotions
And serial killer lack this empathy
But why do people like to kill?
1-Autism
Autism has been connected to decrease of empathy*.
Seemingly caused by damage from the brain limbic and paralimbic system.[2]
*Specifically cognitive empathy
2-Trauma
Trauma has been connected to reduced empathy.[4]
Antisocial personality disorder(ASPD)
ASPD is a personality disorder characterized by :
Lack of remorse
Repeatedly violate other right
Manipulate others
This is kinda similar to Aiden. She is always torturing people, meaning that she violates their rights.
And she always kills, maybe because she just doesn’t care that she is torturing people[5]
…killer.
